Kristy Parton - BIO

Kristy Parton has been singing with the Rob Parton Big Band and Orchestra for over eighteen years. An alumni of the acclaimed Elmhurst College Jazz Band directed by Doug Beach, Kristy has performed for hundreds of special events with Rob Parton and many others. Her devotion to excellence is in the preparation of new music arranged for the Jazz Orchestra often made famous by great artists such as Natalie Cole, Joni Mitchell to Queen Latifah. In addition to performing in the Big Band context, Kristy performed on a regular basis with the trio at Catch 35 in Chicago for over six years.



Rob Parton -

One of Chicago's busiest and most versatile trumpet players, Parton is highly regarded as a studio, theatre and jazz musician, performer, educator and band leader.

As a jazz musician, Parton has performed five nights a week for the past four years as featured artist at Chicago's Catch 35. The list of musicians who have played in the Rob Parton Trio is like a who's who in Chicago Jazz.

As a studio musician, Parton has played on hundreds of local and national radio and TV commercials and many local CD projects as lead trumpet and as contractor. He has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Chicagoland Pops Orchestra, Doc Severinson, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr., Mel Torme, Beach Boys, Christopher Cross, Sheena Easton, Peabo Bryson, Celine Dion, Nick Carter, Yolanda Adams, Josh Groban, Enrique Eglasius, Natalie Cole and Maynard Ferguson, among others. Parton has traveled with Natalie Cole and most recently was a featured member of the Music Now series offered by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

As a theatre musician, Parton has played the national tours and local productions of West Side Story, Wicked, Full Monty, Sweet Charity, Music Man, Legally Blonde, Disney's High School Musical, Color Purple, Young Frankenstein, In the Heights, and Billy Elliot.

As an educator, Parton teaches trumpet, Jazz History, and Jazz Combo, and he performs with the Capital Brass Quintet and the faculty jazz group Spectrum.

When Parton is not working in Columbus or Chicago you will often find him directing an All-State jazz band or acting as a guest artist with many high school and college jazz programs throughout the country. He has presented concerts or clinics at the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, International Association of Jazz Educators convention, MENC and many other music educators conventions.
